About the venue

The Midland Hotel

The impressive building of The Midland Hotel stands proud in the heart of Manchester’s city centre, and over the course of its 100 year history, the hotel has played host to Kings, Queens, Presidents, Prime Ministers and rock stars. The Midland is also an inspiring conference venue. The 14 conferences and meeting rooms vary in style, from the largest and most contemporary Alexandra Suite, to the historical wood panelled setting of the Stanley Suite.

Hydro Aluminium Deeside Ltd plant

Hydro is a global aluminium company with production, sales and trading activities throughout the value chain, from bauxite, alumina and energy generation to the production of primary aluminium and rolled products as well as recycling. Based in Norway, the company has 13,000 employees involved in activities in more than 50 countries on all continents.
European Aluminium has organised a tour of Hydro Aluminium Deeside Ltd in Wrexham especially for Congress participants. With an annual production capacity of 60,000 metric tons, the Deeside plant serves its customers with value added extrusion ingot based on pre- and post-consumer aluminium scrap.

Manchester City Etihad Stadium

The Manchester City Stadium, also known as the Etihad Stadium for sponsorship reasons, is the home ground of Manchester City Football Club. With a domestic football capacity of 55,097, is the third-largest stadium in the Premier League and eighth-largest in the United Kingdom. The stadium, originally proposed as an athletics arena in Manchester's bid for the 2000 Summer Olympics, was converted after the 2002 Commonwealth Games from a 38,000 capacity arena to a 48,000 seat football stadium.

Manchester International airport is the nearest Airport to The Midland (10 miles). It is connected to the City Centre by rail to Manchester Piccadilly and Manchester Oxford Road Stations, and by Metrolink to the Deansgate-Castlefield stop.
